Self leveling compound is especially good at providing a smooth and level substrate for all types of resilient flooring projects.

For example, the next time you walk down a long well lighted corridor or other large project, especially one with a resilient flooring like vct or sheet flooring, look down the floor at the ripples and rolls under the finished floor.

I would not recommend resilient floors be installed over a concrete substrate that's not smooth. If you are a contractor, or professional flooring installer, give your customer the smoothest, the best, most durable, and longest lasting flooring system available.

If your installation is a large ceramic tile project like a 24 “X 24” you simply cannot get a level installation with these large tiles as most concrete will have a ripple or trowel mark ever 36 “s if a power trowel is used.

A self leveling compound will achieve that , less than 1/8 “ in 10' out of level specification and you can install that large format tile without any toe knocks.
