Crack-Weld is a cementitious concrete crack repair product to repair cracks in concrete that are the result of expansion or contraction.
This concrete repair material is not to be used on cracks that have an elevation difference! If there is an elevation difference an epoxy concrete repair is recommended.
Many concrete surfaces will have some type of crack that must be repaired in order to successfully apply concrete overlay.
Active cracks are more difficult to repair and may require cutting new expansion joints in the concrete.
Cracks must be chased out with a diamond blade to open the crack up to ¼in in width and as deep a possible to accept the crack repair material.
Clean the crack by muriatic acid etching and pressure washing to remove loose debris.
To apply Crack-Weld cut drinking straws at a 45 degree angle. Place straws at 2 ft intervals to allow air to escape.
Mix Crack-Weld material with straight liquibond concentrate(polymer)to a slurry consistency. Pour crack repair material into the crack until the material overflows onto surface elevation. Remove the straws as you go.
Feather the crack repair material down to 2 in on either side of the crack.
Embed thin fiberglass mesh tape into the surface. Make sure you bridge the crack. Allow crack repair to cure through the initial set. Normally this will take 1-3 hours, depending on temperature.
After initial set apply a second layer. Feather out to 4”to 6” on either side of the crack over the initial coat. Allow for initial set prior to application of decorative concrete overlay.
